Clinics and Services
Practice Nurses
- Our nurses run clinics morning and afternoon. They carry out blood pressure measurement, immunisations for children and travel, ear syringing, dressings and a host of other services. The Receptionist will provide details if required.
Phlebotomist
- The Phlebotomist takes routine blood samples for testing and does blood pressure measurements at the Phlebotomy clinic on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
The samples are sent to the hospital laboratory at 12.30 pm and 4 pm each day and so appointments for blood tests must be made to coincide with those collections.
Antenatal Clinics
- The doctors carry out antenatal checks during normal surgeries. The midwife visits regularly and holds a fortnightly clinic. Please ask at reception for details.
Post Natal Care
- Postnatal checks are done at 8 weeks. An appointment can be made at reception.
Family Planning
- Consult the Doctor within normal surgery appointments.
Child Health Clinic
- This clinic runs twice a month on the first and third Wednesday between 1.30 pm and 3.30 pm.
BIRTHDAY REVIEWS
- Patients with long-term conditions, such as, diabetes or asthma, will be invited to the surgery for an annual review in the month of their birthday. Patients with multiple conditions will be seen once for everything rather than having to come in several times, often repeating the same tests. It's a kind of human MOT!
Cervical Smears
- Smear tests are carried out by the Practice Nurse by appointment.
Smoking Cessation
- If you want help or advice in giving up smoking, make an appointment with the Practice Nurse, Health Visitor or Phlebotomist.
Minor Surgery
- Both doctors carry out minor surgical procedures at the practice. Please ask the Doctor.
health checks
- Patients between the ages of 40 and 74 who have no diagnosed long standing conditions will be invited for a free NHS health check. These checks are aimed at identifying potential risks early and with the advice of the clinical team, help improve your chances of living a healthier life. For more information follow this link www.nhs.uk/healthcheck or ring the NHS health Check helpline on 0845 850 9850
75+ Check
- Patients over 75 years may request an assessment once a year while patients who are over 16 years and up to 74 years may arrange a three-year check with the Practice Nurse. See also our information about Health Checks above.
Travel Clinics
Registration Appointments
- When joining the practice you may be asked to book an appointment with the Practice Nurse to review and plan your healthcare.
Private Medicals
- These are not covered by the NHS and so a charge will be made for insurance company requests, pre-employment checks, HGV/LGV certificates and other medicals.
